Many people have asked me - "What are you doing since you left LowerMyBills". So I thought my first post would be a fun and harmless one. The general answer is after leaving Experian/LowerMyBills in August of 2007, while looking for inspiration related to buying a business or founding a new one, I have been splitting my time between three areas 1) Being a better husband and father mainly through being present - anyone who has been CEO of a hi growth co knows what I mean, 2) Actively engaged as an angel/early stage investor/board member - see my investments listed, and 3) Trying to return to my youth of at least two sweats per day. All three are occurring while thinking and planning a new business or two.
The inspiration for the two sweats was that when I spent time thinking about how much fun I had as a kid, the common daily memories were about running around playing sports - so, thats basically what I try and do, which tends to be two sweats per day - typically working out in the morning and then playing basketball, surfing, paddle tennis, hiking, biking, or whatever is competitive or fun! What has been great, is that a number of guys that I meet, when hearing about the two sweats per day, tend to email or call me a few days later and say "i love it" or "that makes total sense".
Of course, as an addicted multi-tasker, I combine some of my pursuits into the two sweats per day - talk on the phone while working out, play sports with fellow Los Angeles entrepreneurs or investors, or hike with my wife. I have not mastered the blackberry while on a wave, but I have learned to control my breathing so not everyone knows I am actually playing a sport or running while talking to them. Or at least I like to think I have.
